Letters of Love #1
My dearest child,
I know you have had a difficult week, and I know you are struggling. I recall the words of the lullaby my mother sang to me (I don’t know the author):
Little one, you’re crying
I know why you’re blue
Someone took your kiddie-car away
Time to go to sleep now
Little one, you’ve had a busy day
Time to start your dreamin’
Time for play is through
Time to put your toys away
Time to go to sleep now
Little one, you’ve had a busy day
Now that you’re grown, you may need more than just a good night’s sleep (though sleep is definitely a blessing when you are struggling), so I thought I would write a few lines to you. Please know you are loved. You are special. You are of worth and value more than you could possibly know.
Sometimes I wish I could take off the glasses on my face, place them over your eyes, and give you a view of yourself that I see: the strong, elegant, beautiful woman who loves life and her fellow-beings. I see the joy that you share with others as you find the good in those who are discouraged and share your smile with those around you who are sad.
Thank you for being the woman that you are, for standing tall in the storms and dancing in the rain. You are beautiful. You are loved. You are amazing!
With love,
Me
