Finding Passion

Have you ever found something that you are just so passionate about that you can’t seem to get enough of it? Well, for me that happened about a year ago when I took my first athletic training class. Now, of course I was a scared little first-semester college student and was often unsure about what answers I actually knew, but I was so impressed by the things that I was learning that I wanted to do this forever. It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with the many wonderful things that make up athletic training to me. I was thrilled as can be to find myself entering this world of opportunities. When I would finish a shift in the training room, I would come home so happy and filled with a love for “my” athletes and a love for being able to help them succeed.

This experience came to me in a time where I was very unsure of myself and without a clue of what I wanted to do with my life. I didn’t want to get very far into college before knowing what I was going to major in but my parents thought it would be a good thing to take some classes and get some experience. By a miracle I’m sure, one of those classes for experience turned into my passion in learning and one of the greatest things in my life. Had you asked me before I took that class who I wanted to be when I grew up I would feel awkward and have no answer for you. It didn’t take long for that to change.

Some wisdom I have found in this experience is to hang on and trust that you will find joy in your future, even if you can’t seem to have it right now. I was super worried about what I was going to do with my life and then I found this. All you have to do is mention athletic training to me now and my face will light up and I would love to talk with you for hours and hours about how much I love it. There are surely things like that for you too. So if you are struggling with something like this, just hang on.
