Not Good Enough If You’re Not Greek

So, a few weeks ago, my friend Michelle was sitting next to me in medical term class. She asked me if I was rushing anything for Greek Life this semester. I explained to her, “No, I’m not really into that…” and the fight began.

“No, you should rush!”

“Well, what should I rush?”

She explained a few possibilities of different sororities for different causes. What was going through my head is that none of these seem to get me anywhere but busier in my already hectic schedule.

In the weeks that have followed, she has endlessly sought to persuade me into joining a sorority.

I figured all of this would die down when Rush Week ended last Friday with the initiation of the new sisters; the opposite has happened. Most of my friends now enter our classrooms high fiving each other in colorful jerseys garnished with nicknames and shouting, “Hey, Sister!!” They are not even in the same sorority.  I feel extremely frustrated that my close friends are now leaving me out due to the lack of jersey-hood. What is to be done?
